Spaceship Names
From SuperNova: the science fiction and fantasy wiki
Science fiction naming conventions for spaceships typically follow those for terrestrial ships rather than for terestrial aircraft. In the young adult science fiction novel The Rolling Stones Robert A. Heinlein even devotes several pages to the process of naming a spaceship (Pp. 50-52).
