Nihilist Anarchy - Perspectives
Contents |
[edit] Nihilism
- Life is pointless and without value. - Life in the present is filled with misery and ennui.
[edit] Society
- Life in the present is dominated by a master/slave relationship promoting mediocrity on all sides. - Direct experience defines the individual's perspective of society, seeing how it truly exists rather than understanding it abstractly. - The individual is invited to enter into a hostile world with individuals that perpetually disagree with them, but not necessarily for the purposes of conflict, but rather to analyze and understand the functions of society and how things are actually approached by people.
[edit] Resistance
- Resistance has failed time and again. The left continues to repeat the failures of the past while anarchists struggle to overcome their own failures and those that fetish these moments of anarchist glory in defeat. - Class struggle is defined by the present social order. I am among the many that are excluded by the present order, I may share common interests with the excluded in overcoming the various forms of domination that create the current state of hegemony in the world.
[edit] Uniqueness
- I may be defined by the present order as "excluded" but I choose to be unique in defining myself outside and against the norms of the present order. - I seek to overcome the present by bringing myself into conflict with it, testing the parameters of power. - I have no organizational fetish as I conflict with all organization, which must perpetually be challenged when our desires conflict. - All organizations, formal and informal, can be tyrannies, be it the tyranny of structurelessness, the tyranny of masters and slaves, the tyranny of democracy and majorities or the tyranny of consensus and mediocrities. - I do not fetish the individual, who is prone to vice and failure. I trust only myself as an experiment as I am never without myself, whether I am right or wrong and must accept the consequences of my decisions.
[edit] Stuff
Nihilist Anarchy is brought together by classic Russian nihilists, skeptics, Stirner, Nietzsche, classic anarchists, dadaists, left communists, Wilhelm Reich, existentialists, situationists, post-structuralists, Up Against the Wall Motherfucker, insurrectionary anarchy, post-anarchists, post-left anarchy
Currently, there are few writers that identify as nihilist anarchists. Those that do have only created a small body of work that deals directly with the relationship of nihilism and anarchy. Anarchists that deal with the experience of nihilism in society and attempt to find ways of overcoming it are in a way contributors to the general understandings of nihilist anarchy.
Nihilist anarchy differs from insurrectionary anarchy and platformist anarchist communism in relation to insurrection. Insurrectionary anarchists claim insurrection is necessary and practicing attack and bringing interventions to conflict is the way to achieve it. Platformists claim insurrection to not be enough, that organization is needed. Nihilist anarchy questions if insurrection is anything more than moments in time worth living. While insurrectionary anarchy sees insurrection as positive and desirable, the nihilist responds by counting the ruined lives to accomplish a peak experience. This isn't to speak against it, but rather to speak about what we are wanting to get ourselves into. Are we really ready to force ourselves and then to be forced into insurrectionary modes of life? Looking about at the scattered anarchist minority a majority frozen by dulldrum misery, apathy and fear, participating in life only as an audience, I'd say we haven't quite made that leap into the historic role anarchists have filled and died in. While I question what our role is now and what it can become, we must still overcome ourselves and our failings to defeat that which holds us back within ourselves.
[edit] Negation through Parochial Skepticism
The practice of negation can be reborn by practicing face-to-face discussions aiming for a deep skepticism, defending solutions that would negate the values of the present. While once science was a good vehicle to chase off the superstitutions and morality of a Christian society, today science can be challenged for its many errors in method, logic and approach. This isn't to say we necessarily favor all solutions contrary to what dominates, but rather we favor contrary ideas of our times that aid in the negation of the dominate values. This would mean these ideas can stand strong against attempts to negate them. Example: According to Blob theory, it is questionable that empirical evidence can actually be created as nothing can truly be described. Anything perceived is fabricated by the mind, not just concepts and thus all the hard sciences are completely based on fallacy. However, if empirical evidence can be used as a tool to accomplish the negation of dominant values, then it is of neutral value to the nihilist for as long as it remains neutral to the dominant value. If the dominant value attempts to recognize empirical evidence as having no value, it in turn negates itself by trying to prevent its own negation.
