Unschooling can be a matter of convenience or conviction. It is my belief that unschooling can be and perhaps should be a political act which acknowledges and supports the rights of children/young people to be people. The schools system iteself is one which is designed to subjugate not only the will, but also the very exuberance and life stuff of a young person. The limitations, discipline and expectations of schools are inhumane and would not be permitted in a prison in most countries of the world.
