Harm-free zone

A Harm Free Zone is the process of building community autonomy and self-determination in the struggle to abolish the prison industrial complex, and to transform our ways of treating each other, and is inseparable from the process of community building.
Creating community autonomy comes from both rejecting the oppressive and violent approach of the prison industrial complex while simultaneously creating non-violent, empowering alternatives for mediating conflict. As well as dismantling oppressive external relations to the community (police, courts, etc.) it also includes dismantling oppressive relationships between individuals and oppression within one's self.
