Commodity
From Infoshop OpenWiki
A commodity is something that is produced for the purpose of exchanging for something else, and as such, is the material form given to a fundamental social relation - the exchange of labor.
Karl Marx saw the commodity as the cell of capitalism. Das Kapital opens with the sentence "The wealth of those societies in which the capitalist mode of production prevails, presents itself as 'an immense accumulation of commodities' its unit being a single commodity."
