We will first discuss how to create ideological alliances between different
social movements. We'll break into sub-groups talk about the oppression of
different marginalized groups, and relate it to the subjugation of women
(through objectification, reproductive control, commodification, etc.)
Then we'll discuss how to create practical alliances between different
movements. Practical strategy will become the focus. We'll look at a few case
studies, including Feminists for Animal Rights, among others.
This workshop will be totally awesome.

after this i would like to determine what people want to discuss. some ideas i
have are: how and why specific diseases occur and how to prevent/treat them,
current holistic veterinary care, and natural methods to use for common pet problems (fleas, heart problems, ear mites, allergies, cuts/bite wounds, ect.).
Also, bring your mailing list. If you have a specific list of places (bookstores, infoshops, zine distros, zine libraries, review zines, etc.) you always send your new issue, bring it... share the info. I'm working on a list of all of the above for my zine alabama grrrl so that I can coordinate my own distribution. If you don't have a mailing list, bring the addresses of places in your town that will let you put zines in their stores. We can also shit talk on distros who don't pay us.
Feel free to come armed with some zine discussion topics. This will be a free form workshop.
"A Butch in Femme Clothing" is a lesbian erotica film by emily kingan, very
essential to the ideas of lesbian visibility and sexuality.
Both are no-budget, all-female manufactured and distributed indie films and
hope to inspire women to start their own movie projects!
I would like to discuss having the courage to leave a traditional marriage and be a lesbian and how you discuss this with your children and family. Also, I would like to talk with other womym/men who are in a profession where it is dangerous to come
out.
In class, we will attempt to define and to express female sexuality through clear, contemplative writing and performance in a safe, supportive environment. Women who are in need of a breakthrough in their creativity, sexuality, or sexual healing are encouraged to participate.We will be drawing from our own
experiences, both fantasy and "real," to break through layers of repression
about performing and writing in general and sexually explicit writing in
particular; we will be freeing ourselves from the trivial, vague, and boring
notions about "female erotica" to stake out new, underexplored territory. The
workshop will begin with centering exercises to bring students into their bodies
through yoga, movement, and voice expression, then continue with spontaneous
writing exercises and reading out loud, writing in-class on given topics,
reading work in progress and shaping it into a piece for public performance at
the end of the class.
Artists from other disciplines are strongly encouraged to join us, and are
welcome to explore the subject matter via their chosen creative expression.
Physically challenged women are encouraged to participate also, relating to the
body through the exploration of creativity and sexuality.
We will be reading from, among other possible texts, the Gynomite anthology, Eve
Ensler’s The Vagina Monologues, Susie Bright’s Full Exposure, Annie Sprinkle’s
Post Porn Modernist, Nancy Friday’s collections of female fantasy, and bell
hooks. Students are encouraged to bring in their favorite pornographic writings
by women, and favorite porn from all other realms and forms.
In this workshop i'll share what i've learned from the past two years of putting
on girl/queer rock shows and other events in New Orleans. [Things may be geared to rock shows - but the info can be apllied to ANY type of event you want to see happen.]

How to work with established venues;
How to work with alternative venues;
Sound system/sound person;
Money;
Publicity - general media & flyers;
Getting dontaions/sponsors;
