Global resistance
to capitalism is finally on the rise again! On September 26-28,
the IMF and World Bank are holding their 55th annual summit in Prague.
A mass mobilisation of people to Prague is well underway. On September
26 people from around the world will express their opposition to
the World Bank and the IMF. People of the world will join together
in an expression of solidarity with the demonstrators in Prague
at simultaneous actions in major cities.
Anarchist Activities
at S26
- What can North American anarchists do?
At this time, anarchists should
be spreading the word about the upcoming actions
in Praque. Talk to your friends, put up flyers,
and plan teach-ins for early September. You
should also start planning solidarity actions
for your town (ask around to see if other groups
are already making plans). Given that most of
us are working class people, we can't all fly
to Europe to be at the Prague actions. Still,
it's important for us to get as many anarchists
there as possible. One of the things your local
affinity groups can do is to organize fundraisers
in early September so you can give a little
money to your local anarchists who want to go
to Prague.

International Anarcho-Communist Solidarity
with the International Red & Black Revolutionary Anti-Capitalist
Bloc
"We believe
in internationalism and the globalization of our struggle against
all of capitalism, regardless of political borders, and we work
towards a genuine international unity which will one day lay the
basis for global social revolution."
-- Revolutionary Anti-Capitalist Bloc, Washington, DC, April 16,
2000
Revolutionary greetings from the Northeastern Federation
of Anarcho-Communists (NEFAC) of North America and the Anarchist
Federation (AF) of Britain to all participants within the International
Red & Black Revolutionary Anti-Capitalist Bloc.
At the dawn of the twenty-first century, a global
movement is rising to resist exploitation by transnational capitalism.
From trade unionists to environmentalists, from religious groups
to non-governmental organizations, from indigenous peoples to the
urban homeless, the dispossessed echo the cry emanating from the
Lacandon Jungle: "Basta, Enough!"
As this refreshing breeze gathers strength, it
bends capitalism's rotting branches, but only an anarcho-communist
social revolution can rip up the roots. Reform is no match for capitalism's
resilience; capitalism's destruction will only be achieved by a
gale force storming the globe.
On September 26, the IMF and World Bank's scheming
misers will meet in Prague to make their backroom deals. Our comrades
around the world have seen through the flash bulbs and beyond the
shimmering television images that tell brazen lies with pretty pictures.
Many of these comrades will join Solidarita and other Czech revolutionaries
to expose, confront and disrupt this capitalist elite. We, the federated
anarcho-communists of Britain and the American Northeast, proclaim
solidarity with the International Red & Black Revolutionary Anti-Capitalist
Bloc, for social revolution and against global capitalism.
Signed;
Northeastern Federation of Anarcho-Communists (United
States)
Fédération des Communistes Anarchiste du Nord-est
(Canada)
Anarchist Federation (Britain), International Secretariat
"We are going to inherit the earth; there is not
the slightest doubt about that. The bourgeoisie might destroy its
own world before it leaves the stage of history. We carry a new
world here, in our hearts. This world is growing this minute."
-- Buenaventura Durruti, 1936

Demonstrations
to protest the effects of globalization in Tompkins County to occur
on 9/23 and 9/26
On September
23rd and 26th, the Ithaca Coalition for Global Justice (aka Ithaca
Sharks) will sponsor two demonstrations to protest corporate globalization
and its effects on working families and the environment worldwide
and particularly in Tompkins County. These events will be in solidarity
with trade unionists, community activists, faith-based activists
and students across the world raising awareness on the dangers of
structural adjustment programs promoted by the World Bank and the
IMF in developing nations.
Large-scale
protests against the World Trade Organization in Seattle last November
and against the World Bank and IMF in Washington, DC in April brought
to light the suffering that these institutions have caused in developing
nations. On September 26, the World Bank and the IMF will meet in
Prague, Czech Republic.
On Saturday,
September, 23rd, there will be a demonstration on the Ithaca Commons
from 2-6 pm to educate and raise awareness about globalization.
Street theater, leafleting, and tabling will be among the events
scheduled for the day. The Ithaca Sharks will also promote the Living
Wage Campaign: an effort to raise salaries in our area to meet household
basic needs such as food, rent, and healthcare.
On Tuesday,
September 26th, the Ithaca Sharks will join thousands of worldwide
organizations protesting the World Bank and IMF meeting in Prague,
Czech Republic. There will be a rally at Ho Plaza, Cornell University,
at 12 pm to address a number of different issues that affect the
residents of Tompkins County. Speakers will focus on several topics,
including the campaign for a Living Wage; World Bank Bonds investments
in our community that support exploitative structural adjustment
programs; biotech research that feeds environmentally unsound practices;
and the commercialization of education.
The Ithaca
Coalition for Global Justice (aka Ithaca Sharks) is a diverse group
of workers, students and community members who are committed to
economic, social and environmental justice in Tompkins County, the
United States, and the world.

the damage these institutions have caused for working people and
the poor in South Africa and throughout the world:

Igoli 2002 and 2010

From Olga: Moscow government doesn't want
any action on Sept.26. Our action ("street consert for support poor
people" - so was in paper) was forbitten by locall authorities.
We gave a peacefull discription for action and really we must not
ask permission, only give information what will happen. It's not
common practice to forbid actions, because they have to have some
reasone for it and make official explanaision. We don't like to
ask for permision of course but we were going to use expansive sound
system and there are not enough people for mass protests. It's already
the second time - we didn't manage to get this kind of permision
for First May'2000 festival in Moscow. I hope we'll find smth to
do.
New York City
NEW YORK ACTIVISTS TO
SUPPORT “S26” GLOBAL DAY OF ACTION VS. IMF, WORLD BANK; CAMPAIGN
AGAINST CITIGROUP TO KICK OFF
Activists will be joining forces for a mass rally
in New York City on Tues., Sept. 26 to demonstrate U.S. support
for the Global Day of Action in Prague, Czech Republic, against
the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank. “S26” will also
mark the kick-off of a new campaign against Citigroup, the banking
giant that has practiced predatory lending overseas and disproportionately
denied loans to African-American applicants in the U.S.
New Yorkers will rally at the IMF offices, 44th
Street and Second Avenue, at 4 p.m. on Tues., Sept. 26. This unpermitted
mass protest will be one of hundreds to be held in major cities
all over the world, focusing unprecedented attention on the disastrous
effects of IMF and World Bank policies. Activists will show their
solidarity with the tens of thousands of demonstrators gathering
in Prague to demonstrate and engage in nonviolent civil disobedience
against the IMF and World Bank meetings on that day.
The New York event, coordinated by the New York
City Direct Action Network, will include street theater, leafleting,
live video/audio hook-up to Prague, and informative talks on the
policies of the IMF, World Bank and Citigroup. These institutions
have devastated the environment and destroyed communities around
the world and driven poor Americans deeper into poverty, notes Vicki
Larson, a member of NYC-DAN's S26 Working Group. At the same time,
she notes, “people are awakening to the possibility and necessity
of global solidarity against the ravaging effects of unbridled corporate
power. At home as abroad, a burgeoning movement is giving new meaning
to the slogan, ‘Think globally, act locally.'”
Organizations that have endorsed the S26 Global
Day of Action against the IMF and World Bank include: AFL-CIO, Anarchist
Action of Rochester, Boston Global Action Network, Campaign for
Labor Rights, Coalition Against Global Exploitation, Communications
Workers of America, 50 Years is Enough Coalition, Global Exchange,
Infoshop.org, Insaaf (Justice) International (India), International
Brotherhood of Teamsters, Jobs with Justice, Mexico Solidarity Network,

Wellington, Aotearoa
- September 26
In Wellington
we are planning a day of action, protest, and party centered around
Cuba and Manners Mall. While there are no direct local targets for
protest against the WTO and IMF, we will be focussing on banks as
embodying the same basic principles of profit, foreign control,
and disregard for local communities as the World Bank and IMG conglomerates.
This will begin
with Food Not Bombs outside McDonalds in Manners Mall, followed
by music, breakdancing, bands, displays, balloons, chalk painting,
roving pickets targeting banks etc. between 12 pm and 3 pm in the
Cuba Mall / Manners Mall area.
