Dole Food Company, formerly Hawaiian Pineapple Company, is a Honolulu, Hawaii based agricultural multinational corporation and is the leading grower and packer of such food items as banana, nuts, pineapple and other fresh fruits and vegetables. It was founded in 1851 by James Dole who opened his first pineapple plantation in the central plateau of the Hawaiian island of Oahu. Today the company does business in over 90 countries and takes in upwards of USD $48 Billion in annual revenue. Its most prized crop continues to be authentic Hawaiian-grown pineapples.
