bebe stores is an American clothing retailer founded in 1976 by Manny Mashouf in San Francisco. The company designs, develops and produces contemporary woman's apparel and accessories that targets the 21 to 35-year-old woman who "seeks current fashion trends to suit her lifestyle".

According to their annual report, the bebe look appeals to a "modern, sexy, sophisticated, body-conscious woman who takes pride in her appearance".

The company markets their products under the bebe, BEBE SPORT and 'bebe O' brand names through 214 retail stores, of which 166 are bebe stores, 31 are BEBE SPORT stores and 17 are bebe outlet stores. The company currently operates in 32 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and Canada. The company also operates a website and licenses 13 international stores.

According to the 2005 Annual Report, bebe attracts customers "through edgy, high-impact, visual advertising campaigns using print, outdoor, in-store, electronic, and direct mail communication vehicles. We also offer a line of merchandise branded with the distinctive bebe logo to increase brand awareness."

Models used in bebe advertising campaigns include Adriana Lima, Alice Dodd, James King, Isabeli Fontana, Magdalena Wrobel, Nina Brosh, Rose McGowan, Shirley Mallmann, Valeria Mazza and Yamila Diaz.

The company designs and develops the majority of merchandise in-house with outsourced manufacturing. According to the 2005 Annual Report, the "vertical integration enables us to respond quickly to changing fashion trends, reduce risk of excess inventory, and produce distinctive quality merchandise of exceptional value."
