In November, We Remember

Red November, black November, bleak November, black & red;
Hallowed month of labor's martyrs, labor's heroes, labor's dead.
Labor's hope and wrath and sorrow, red the promise, black the threat.

(While for many of those who follow, black & green, etc, may be more applicable colors, it is an old poem of Ralph Chaplin's from 1916 and I like it. What I don't like is that this list gets longer each year...now I add my friend Brad's name along with Timur Kacharava, Esteban Zurita and Emilio Fabian. You will be missed, not forgotten.)

Emilio Alfonso Fabian -- Mexican teacher. Assassinated by PRIsta death squad at the Calicanto Street barricade, Santa Lucia del Camino, Oaxaca, Mexico. October 27, 2006.
Jordan Matthew Feder -- age 23. Anti-Racist Action. Friend and comrade. Died of meningitis returning from Miami FTAA summit actions after exposure to Capisicum 2, OC powder and other chemical weapons used by the state. November 26, 2003.
Adolph Fischer -- age 29. Anarchist. Haymarket martyr. Murdered by the state, November 11, 1887.
Julio Flores -- age 15. Killed December 19/20, 2001, Argentina.
Diosdado Fortuna -- IUF unionist. Killed by paid assassins on September 22, 2005 after leaving the picket line outside Nestle's manufacturing plant in Cabuyao, Laguna, Philipines.
Kaneko Fumiko -- age 23. Anarchist/nihilist. Arrested September 23, 1923 with anarchist Pak Yeol on suspicion of plotting to kill the Emperor of Japan. Hanged self in prison rather than serve life sentence, 1926.
Lee Kyang Hae -- (also Lee Kyoung-Hae) age 56. Farmer. Committed suicide protesting WTO in Cancun, September 11, 2003.
Joe Hill -- age 36. IWW. Murdered by the state, November 19, 1915. "Don't mourn; organize!"

Farouk Abdel Muhti -- age 57. Palestinian activist, father, friend and comrade. Detained for two years by US government, released in April 2004. Denied heart medication while in custody, Farouk died of a heart attack, July 21, 2004.
